David A. McCarville, J.D.

Fennemore Law
Director
David McCarville is a director in the Phoenix office of our trusts, estates and wealth preservation practice group. His work focuses on estate planning and administration, real estate and corporate succession planning. He takes great pride in understanding the personality of his clients and their unique family dynamics which then allows him to identify and resolve issues before they become a problem. He delivers value to his clients by creating strategic estate plans that are designed to protect assets and preserve legacies in a tax efficient and meaningful way. This approach also extends to business owners where David helps to safeguard their business interests through meaningful succession planning. He’s also a thought-leader in the rapidly-developing blockchain technology field, working with clients to help them understand and prepare for the changes that this technology can improve upon legacy systems for storing and transferring value using distributed ledgers, digital assets and smart contracts.
An Arizona native born in Casa Grande, AZ, David attended college in Los Angeles at Loyola Marymount University where after graduation he became fully immersed in the shipping and international logistics field. He enjoyed the challenge of managing shipments of oversized, heavy and sensitive equipment to destinations with challenging geopolitical and transportation infrastructure. His experience in working with colleagues and officials in South Africa, Russia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo provides him with an appreciation of things that he had previously taken for granted such as the rule of law, electricity and running water.  With this experience he then began working as government contractor with Booz Allen Hamilton on the transportation and disposal of nuclear waste for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Yucca Mountain project. Forever curious – with a passion for helping people – this experience put David in contact with a number of outstanding lawyers, and led to him eventually earning his J.D. from George Mason University in Arlington, VA before returning home to practice law in Arizona.
Outside of the office, David and his wife are blessed with four daughters and their family-oriented life is a whirlwind of extracurricular activities, cooking meals together, hiking and the occasional movie.
